In tantric Buddhist art, 'shakti' refers to the female energy or consort paired with a deity. This densely carved panel, described as ivory, shows a central deity with a consort surrounded by numerous smaller figures, flames and cloud motifs in deep relief, filling the whole surface of the elongated, slightly curved piece. The miniature carving is visible in fine detail across the front. Height 15.5 cm.
