Avalokiteshvara, bodhisattva of compassion, is often depicted with eleven heads and a thousand arms to reach and help all beings. This thangka shows that standing form at the centre, its arms fanning out in a circular aureole, painted predominantly in gold with red and blue accents, with smaller deities in the upper and lower corners. It is framed behind a rust-orange mat. Size 55 × 72 cm.
