A ghau is a portable shrine or amulet box worn or carried by Tibetan travellers to hold a sacred image. Chakrasamvara is a principal yidam (meditational deity) of the Highest Yoga Tantra, typically shown embracing his consort Vajravarahi. Here the deity, described as turquoise, appears in an arched window; the copper-toned filigree frame is set with green, red and purple stones and has side loops for a cord. Height 10 cm.
